MAUMEE, OH (5-20-12) by Scott Porter - F.A.S.T. Public Relations
Another weekend of sprint car racing in Northern Ohio is in the books for the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) Championship Series presented by Engine Pro and KS Sales & Service. Fans were treated to some exciting racing with drivers charging to the front and a pair of driver's collecting their first F.A.S.T. feature wins of the season.
Friday night at Attica Raceway Park saw "The Low Rider" Dale Blaney pick up the feature win as the George Fisher Racing team fine tuned their ride before the World of Outlaws invade Attica the first Friday of June. Blaney would charge from his 12th starting position to the front, while using his familiar low line in pursuit his first F.A.S.T. feature win of the season. Dean Jacobs would claim the checkered flag on Saturday at Fremont Speedway, which was a much overdue win for the Wooster, Ohio native. Jacobs had to survive a late race restart, which pitted him against hard charging Bryan Sebetto. Near disaster struck Sebetto as he washed over the cushion on the restart letting Jacobs drive off to the win and help the Seeling Motorsports #97 move into a tie for second in the F.A.S.T. Series point standings.
Defending F.A.S.T. Champion Bryan Sebetto entered the weekend atop of the F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup point standings and extended his points lead thanks to two bridesmaid finishes by the Hammer Pallets, Crown Battery #24H. Sebetto now leads 2009 F.A.S.T. Champion Craig Mintz and Jacobs by 35-points. For Jacobs, a third place finish at Attica after leading the initial start of the race coupled with his feature win at "The Track That Action Built" leap frogged the NAPA Truck Center, Northwest Ohio Towing & Recovery #97 from sixth place in points to a tie in second. While it may have been a quiet weekend for Mintz, the Real-Geese Silhouette Decoys, KS Sales & Service, R2C Competition Filters #09 did record a pair of fifth place finishes at the two clay ovals.
"The Ohio Gas Man" Phil Gressman moved into fourth place and sits just 48-markers out of first after posting two sixth place finishes over the weekend. Monclova, Ohio's Byron Reed sits in fifth after finishing in fourth at Fremont and ninth at Attica, but is just 2-points behind Gressman.
Chris Andrews and the Burmeister Racing #16 had a weekend that they would like to forget, which resulted in the team dropping to sixth in points. A bad pill draw buried the Adkins Sanitation, Flooring America, Lucas Oil, Goofy Golf #16 deep in the field to start the feature at Attica and finished 14th. Andrews would find himself having to transfer out of the B-Main to make the show on Saturday at Fremont and brought out the first caution flag after clipping an infield tire resulting in a 20th place finish. Todd Heller sits in sixth with Brian Smith on his tail in seventh. A podium finish for Mike Linder at Fremont helped move the Engler Printing, Linder's Speed Equipment, Vision Quest #3 into a tie for ninth with F.A.S.T. Rookie of the Year contender Stuart Brubaker.
The weekend also marked the return of the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title 305 Championship Series in Northern Ohio. Caleb Griffth would use the high line around "Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant on Friday night en route to collecting the feature win. Friday's runner-up D.J. Foos would chase down Jamie Miller on Saturday night and exit turn two on the high side on lap 18 with the lead. Foos would drive off to claim the checkered flag at Fremont Speedway. After the dust had settled D.J. Foos and his family owned Buckshot Farms, Automatic Fire Protection, Pit Stop Carryout backed #11F would sit atop the F.A.S.T. 305 point standings by a slim 5-points over Caleb Giffith. The two young hot shoes are joined by Nate Dussel, who collected a pair of top-5 finishes, in third place just 18-markers back. Former 410 sprint car drivers Paul Weaver and John Ivy round out the top-5 in points.
The Fremont/Attica Sprint Title takes a two week hiatus as the two premier Northern Ohio facilities host the top sprint car sanctioning bodies in the country. First Fremont Speedway hosts a two day show with the All Star Circuit of Champions over Memorial Day Weekend, before the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series make their only Northern Ohio appearance at Attica Raceway Park on June 1st. F.A.S.T. points racing continues for both the 410 sprints and 305 sprints on Friday, June 8th at Attica before returning to Fremont on Saturday, June 9th.

Dean Jacobs Scores Long Overdue Win At Fremont
By Brian Liskai - Fremont Speedway Public Relations
(Fremont, OH) Fremont Speedway as the Wooster, Ohio driver took the lead on lap 17 after a spirited battle with Mike Linder, and then held off a charging Bryan Sebetto to score his fourth career 410 sprint victory at The Track That Action Built.
“It’s been awhile… Fremont was a lot to my liking tonight. I think Larry (Helms) and Rich (Farmer) did a nice job with the race track as dry as it’s been. Last week it was pretty slick and we struggled a little bit. Tonight we had moisture on top, a little bit on the bottom, some holes…you had to really drive your race car. It was a lot of fun,” said Jacobs beside his Northwest Ohio Towing, NAPA Truck Center backed machine in the Engine Pro Victory Lane.
In 2011, Jacobs claimed the Attica Raceway Park championship and finished a very close second to Sebetto in the Fremont points and the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) Championship chase. He had to battle with Sebetto once again Saturday in a FAST championship event. A caution with six laps to go put Sebetto right on Jacobs’s rear bumper, but Sebetto slipped up off the cushion in turn two on the restart and Jacobs drove away to the win.
“I knew I should expect something on that restart. Aaron (Hammer, crew chief on Sebetto's car) said something to me (after the checkered). I said ‘where you guys on my butt there?’ And he said ‘no.’ I wished I had known that because I was waiting for that slide job. Bryan's a heck of a racer…he drives hard and he will win a lot of races,” added Jacobs. “It made a bg difference to start up front. I don’t care where you race, the competition is tough…there’s 10 to 15 cars in this pit area every night that can win here. You just got to start close to the front…it’s just the way it is in racing now. There’s very few guys that can come from the back and win. But still, this was a race track you could race on tonight. It was a lot of fun. I want it just like this next week…I’d like to beat them All Stars…it’s been a long time since I won an All Star race. And Joe and Diane Seeling (car owners) and my Ryan my crew chief deserve an All Star win and we’re going to get them one.”
Broc Martin and Mike Linder would bring the field of 20 to the green of the 30 lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint feature. Martin would grab the lead with Linder racing to his outside and Jacobs making it a three car battle. Linder would drove around Martin into the top spot on lap four with Jacobs following into second a lap later. Chris Andrews would spin on the front stretch with a broken front axle on lap seven for the first of only two cautions in the event.
Linder would rocket away in the lead on the restart with Jacobs remaining within striking distance with Martin waging a torrid battle with Brian Lay, Dale Blaney, Craig Mintz and Sebetto for third. Lay would move into the third spot on lap nine as Sebetto would ride the outside rim into fourth. As they raced into lapped traffic on the 13th circuit, Jacobs was now racing side-by-side with Linder with Sebetto closing. At the halfway point, it was a tremendous three car battle for the lead with Linder, Jacobs and Sebetto and behind them a good race for fourth with Lay, Blaney and Mintz. Jacobs would rocket under Linder exiting turn two on the 17th lap to take the lead with Sebetto using lapped traffic to grab second a lap later.
With 10 laps to go, Jacobs found himself in heavy lapped traffic and Sebetto was on the charge with Linder and Blaney locked in a spirited battle for third. Brandon Martin would bring out the caution on lap 24 as he spun in turn two. The restart order was Jacobs, Sebetto, a lapped machine, Linder, Blaney, another lapped car and Mintz. Jacobs and Sebetto would run nose to tail on the restart as Sebetto searched for a way to take the lead. Just after completing the 26th lap, Sebetto would slide off the high side of turn two and Jacobs rocketed away to win by half a straight away. Sebetto, Linder, Blaney and Mintz would round out the top five.

D.J. Foos Drives Off With FAST 305 Win At Fremont
By Brian Liskai - Fremont Speedway Public Relations
(Fremont, OH) In the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) 305 Championship Series event, Fremont native D.J. Foos battled Jamie Miller for eight laps before taking the lead on lap 18 and held off a late race charge from Nate Dussel to score his second victory of the year at Fremont and his sixth overall (he has four at Attica). It was the second of 10 F.A.S.T. events for the 305 sprints in 2012. Foos now has five career victories at The Track That Action Built.
“I busted my tail to win this thing. The curb was really hard to run and I was beating myself up on it but I wanted this one more than anyone here and I think I did a great job proving that. I got off the back side of turn two battling for the lead and I figured I’m ahead of him and I’m not lifting now because it’s hard to pass…everyone is so close. I saw the opportunity and went for it,” said Foos beside his Buckshot Farms, Automatic Fire Protection, Tender Turn Car Wash, Pit Stop Carryout, Schiets Motorsports, Crown Battery, JLH General Contractors, Level Performance backed machine.
Caleb Griffith and Jamie Miller would bring the field to the green for the 25-lap 305 sprint feature. But, before a lap could be completed a multi-car spin in turn three involving Steve Rando, Tyler Gunn, Jason Keckler and Paige Polyak would necessitate a complete restart. When the green flew, Griffith would rocket into he lead over Alvin Roepke, Miller, Foos, John Ivy, Nate Dussel and Dustin Dinan. The caution would fly again for a Dinan spin and once again Griffith would pull away on the restart while Roepke, Miller and Foos battled for second.
Miller would take second on lap five and closed on Griffith , but Jess Stiger would tip over on the back stretch to bring out the red. On the restart, Miller executed a slide job on Griffith in turns three and four to take the lead. The caution would fly for debris on the track on lap nine with Miller leading Griffith, Foos, Roepke, Dussel, Paul Weaver and Ivy. Miller would continue to lead as Foos moved into second when the green came back out with Dussel grabbing third on lap 11. Foos began closing on lap 13 and with 11 laps to go was racing under Miller for the lead as they raced into traffic. Miller and Foos ran nose to tail the next two circuits before Foos would execute his winning move exiting turn two on lap 18.
Miller would slip up the track on lap 19 allowing Dussel and Griffith to get by. No one was going to catch Foos as he drove to the checkered flag over Dussel, Griffith, Miller and John Ivy. Polyak, after her opening lap mishap, would score the hard-charger award, driving from 22nd to a sixth place run.

"The Low Rider" Dale Blaney Charges From 12th To Pick Up FAST Attica Win
By Brian Liskai - Attica Raceway Park Public Relations
(Attica, OH) Dale Blaney went where no one else wanted to go at Attica Raceway Park Friday, living up to his moniker “The Low Rider.” The Hartford , Ohio resident’s bottom line proved to be very beneficial, as he was able to avoid several early race incidents from his 12th starting spot and went on to earn his 16th career victory on Merrill Lynch/All Pro Aluminum Heads Night.
Blaney now has three wins in 2012 at Attica and is fifth on the track’s all-time win list for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints. But, it wasn’t easy, as he avoided the early race pitfalls and then battled Dean Jacobs and Bryan Sebetto the last half of the race before taking the lead with 10 circuits to go.
“I just stayed on the bottom… no one else was racing there so it was wide open and the car was good down there. We have been really fast all season and I’m looking forward to the big shows coming up,” said Blaney beside his Ti22 Performance #2. “The whole trick was to be patient and take what the car and traffic would give you.”
In the Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. Championship Series 30-lap feature, Brian Lay and Dean Jacobs would lead the field to the green, but several cars made contact in turn one, sending Lee Jacobs upside down. On the restart Dean Jacobs would power into the lead over Lay, Bryan Sebetto, Phil Gressman, Byron Reed, Andrew Palker and Brad Bowman. By the second lap, Sebetto and Dean Jacobs were running nose to tail with Gressman staying within striking distance while Lay, Reed, Bowman, Palker, Craig Mintz and Blaney battled hard for fourth. Marty Perovich would get upside down in turn four on lap three to stop the action.
On the restart, Dean Jacobs, Sebetto and Gressman continued to wage a torrid battle for the top spot with Lay, Reed and a very quick Blaney in tow. When Duane Zablocki spun on lap eight, the crowd was now paying attention to Blaney who had climbed to fifth. On the restart, however, now all eyes were on Brandon Martin who had climbed to seventh from his 18th starting spot.
Jacobs and Sebetto would continue to run nose to tail, pulling away from Gressman who had his hands full with Blaney and Reed. Blaney would drive under Gressman for third on lap 13 and quickly closed on the front duo. At the half way point, Dean Jacobs still led over Sebetto, Blaney, Gressman, Reed, Mintz, Lay, 14th starter Danny Smith and Bowman. Blaney would drive under Sebetto and beside Dean Jacobs on lap 19 and would take the lead a circuit later.
Blaney would then hit lapped traffic and would pull away as no one else seemed to want to run the bottom groove. Meanwhile Dean Jacobs and Sebetto raced hard for second with Reed, Gressman, Mintz and Smith in tow. With five laps to go, Sebetto would race inside of Dean Jacobs for second and take the runner-up spot with four laps to go. However, no one was going to catch Blaney as he drove to the win over Sebetto, Dean Jacobs, Reed and Mintz.
With his second place run, Sebetto would maintain his lead in the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title Championship Series ahead of Craig Mintz and Byron Reed heading into Fremont Speedway on Saturday night.

Caleb Griffith Runs Away With First FAST 305 Feauture Event Of 2012
By Brian Liskai - Attica Raceway Park Public Relations
(Attica, OH) In the 2012 opener for the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title 305 Championship Series, Caleb Griffith refused to go to the bottom and would ride the track’s outer rim to lead all 25 laps, holding off a charging D.J. Foos, to score his third career win at Attica Raceway Park.
“The car was very good every where tonight. This one is for my crew chief Vic…he celebrated his birthday this week and he gave me the present of a great car tonight,” said Griffith beside his Tackle Box 2, Young’s Breading and Batter Mix, McDonalds Restaurant, Al Davis Carpet and Laminate, JLH General Contractors backed #40.
Jason Keckler and Griffith would pace the field at the start of the 305 sprint main with Griffith using the high line to immediately take the lead. Griffith built a sizeable lead with all eyes on the battle for second between Keckler, Dustin Stroup, D.J. Foos, John Ivy, Steve Rando, Paige Polyak and Nate Dussel. Foos would grab third on lap eight and second by lap 10 and began closing on Griffith.
A spat of cautions on laps 12 and 13 slowed the race pace, with first Dustin Dinan spinning, then a Steve Rando tip-over on the ensuing restart, followed a lap later by a Dustin Stroup spin after contact with Polyak. When the green came back out, Dussel would grab third from Keckler as Griffith pulled away from Foos. Keckler would rebound to regain the third spot on lap 15 with Polyak taking fourth a lap later.
Griffith hit lapped traffic with about five laps to go, allowing Foos to close ever so slightly. But, it was too little too late as Griffith drove to the checkers. Foos, Paul Weaver (from 14th), Keckler and Dussel would round out the top five.
