Night #9: Mark Keegan Scores F.A.S.T. Win at Attica Raceway Park

ATTICA, OH (6-11-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations

The Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. Championship Series presented by SRP Pistons & Engine Pro was back in action on Night #9 at Attica Raceway Park on what looked like it would be a stormy night. Fortunately, the only storm that moved through the area was on the track as Mark Keegan netted his 56th career victory at the track he and his brother Larry built more than 20 years ago. The win came on the 15th anniversary of the night Steve Kinser learned who Mark Keegan was as Keegan ran down the King for an Ohio Speedweek victory in 1995.

The weather forecast did not deter the 410 sprint teams from towing to Attica as 33 cars pulled into the pit area to make their bid for the 2010 Kistler Cup trophy. In a bizarre turn of events, Brandon Martin, Craig Mintz, Travis Philo, Bryan Sebetto, Brandon Wimmer, and Dale Blaney all made early exits with mechanical failures or bent up race cars. Sebetto secured a ride to finish the night in the Robenalt Racing #98, but by F.A.S.T. Series rules was only awarded points while driving the car he started the night in.

When the green flag flew for the A-main event, Scott Euler jumped into the early lead from his front row starting spot with Andrews, Jamie Miller and Mark Keegan close behind. Miller was able to take the lead on lap three, with Andrews, Keegan, Dale Blaney racing each other hard behind him. Andrews took the lead from Miller on lap 7. Miller and Dale Blaney raced side by side for third until Phil Gressman passed Blaney to grab fourth on lap 9.

A caution on lap 10 for Todd Heller slowed the action, but then Keegan resumed his pressure on Andrews while Blaney made it a three-car battle for the lead. Meanwhile Miller, Lee Jacobs, Gressman and Brock Mayes put on a show for fourth place. On lap 16, Blaney coasted to a stop in the infield, bringing out the caution. Andrews was leading over Keegan, Gressman, Jacobs, Miller, Byron Reed and Mayes on the restart.

Night #7: Reed Tops Attica Field; Foos Holds off Ivy for FAST 305 Win
ATTICA, OH (6-4-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations

The Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. Championship Series presented by SRP Pistons/ Engine Pro resumed action for Night #7 at Attica Raceway Park after a two week break in the schedule for sanctioned races at both speedways. The Monclova Missle struck again as Byron Reed showed why he is leading the chase for the Kistler Cup in 2010. The veteran driver from Monclova, OH reeled in his 3rd F.A.S.T. series victory of the season by overtaking Todd Heller and Mike Linder in a single pass coming out of turn 4 on lap #5 of the 30 lap event earning him the "Weld Wheels Cool Move of the Race". Reed, who started 4th, never looked back as he rocketed into the lead and picked off lapped traffic as the pace was only slowed by a single caution on lap #6.

Heller and Linder battled from the front row at the drop of the initial green flag as the two diced it out for 5 laps before Reed dove under them for the lead. Heller continued to hold off Linder as the two raced hard for second place as Brandon Martin closed in on them from his 8th starting spot. Dean Jacobs, who started 13th, was flying up through the field passing cars on just about every lap earning him the "KSE Steering Hard Charger" award when he crossed the finish line in 3rd place behind Martin who made his way to 2nd before the checkered flag flew. Linder fell to 4th while Heller faded all the way back to 15th. Craig Mintz Rounded out the Top 5.

“It was a tough race. I can’t believe this track, it was great tonight. Everyone had to really be up on their game. I had to be aggressive in lapped traffic…it’s tough sometimes when you’re not sure where they are going,” said Reed beside his Reebar Diecasting, Schoenfeld Headers, ProShocks backed #5. “I think last year on both double-points nights were our worst nights of the year, so this will turn it around hopefully,” added Reed who was awarded double points toward the Attica track championship. No double points are awarded in FAST Series competition.
