F.A.S.T. Series 2010 Rule Bulletin
MAUMEE, OH (4-27-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations

The FAST organization would like to remind teams to review the 2010 rule sheets that were distributed to all teams last weekend.  Rule #7 (placement of FAST decals) will be enforced starting with the next FAST event.  All teams have had sufficient time to apply the FAST series decals in the locations specified in Rule #7.  Teams not displaying the FAST decals will not receive points toward the series championship beginning this weekend.  If you plan on running for the FAST Championship and did not receive your decal pack, please contact the FAST organization at 419-266-2897.  Three sets of FAST decals were distributed to each team in the decal/rule packs.

Decals are paid for directly from the point fund and in an effort to cut costs that will deplete that point fund, teams will be charged a minimal fee for extra sets of decals to cover the costs.  "It isn't fair to all of the teams when only a portion of drivers may burn through multiple sets of decals throughout the season due to crashes, new paint schemes, or changing rides," states Bryan Autullo of FAST.  "It may seem trivial to charge teams for extra sets of decals, but our organization does not sell memberships nor do we charge the track any sanctioning fees, so all costs of operation come directly from the point fund.  Our goal is to hand out more money to the race teams, not burn up the point fund with operational costs for the series.  That would defeat our entire purpose and that's why you won't see us running around in fancy uniforms driving golf carts.  All of the money we collect goes back into the point fund to distribute to the race teams."

"We discussed this decal rule at great length," said Chris Kettman of the FAST organization.  "We feel that it is important that the teams running for our point fund support the sponsors who make this all possible and support the series by putting the F.A.S.T. decals on their race cars.  When we hand out over $60,000 in cash and prizes, we don't feel this is too much to ask of the teams involved.  This season we will enforce the rule that teams not running the Kistler Racing Products/F.A.S.T. Series decal will not receive points for that event.  We also hope that all of the teams will support our F.A.S.T. cash and contingency sponsors by placing their decals on the cars to show their appreciation for all of the cash and prizes we'll be handing out in 2010."

Additional sets of F.A.S.T. decals may be purchased for $5.00 at any FAST event.  Please see a member of the FAST Staff if you need decals.  For a complete list of FAST rules, visit www.fastondirt.com and download the 2010 rule sheet.

Fremont Speedway Sets Sunday May 2nd as Rain Date
MAUMEE, OH (4-27-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations

After cold weather and rain halted the season opener at Fremont Speedway the past two Saturdays, promoter Rich Farmer has secured Sunday May 2nd as a rain date for this weekend in an effort to get the 2010 season kicked off at "The Track That Action Built".  The FAST organization has agreed to make the rain date a FAST points event at the request of Fremont Speedway so as not to lose another points race to Mother Nature.  This weekend's forecast is looking a bit sketchy in the 5 day outlook with a 40% chance of rain forecast for both Saturday and Sunday. Farmer is hoping to increase his odds of getting the event in the books by adding Sunday as a rain date.  There will be no 410 sprints the following weekend with the ALMS Late Models visiting the speedway, so the next scheduled 410 event would not be until May 15th.  "I really want to get the race in this weekend," said Farmer, "and I really don't want to see another FAST event lost this early in the season.  We are big supporters of the FAST organization and we feel that we have an opportunity to try to get this race in either on Saturday or Sunday."

The Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. 2010 schedule states that "races may be added, cancelled, or changed", but it also says "there will be no rain dates for F.A.S.T. events unless the feature is re-scheduled for another night by the track staff."  However, this does not account for rain dates added to the track schedule during a scheduled FAST weekend.  "This is a special situation where we have the opportunity to get this race in if we should happen to rain out on Saturday," said Bryan Autullo.  "Our 'no rain dates' policy was written with the intent that during the regular season there are virtually no opportunities to make up our points events because there aren't many race nights that aren't already on our F.A.S.T. schedule.  With Farmer adding the Sunday option, we feel this is a special situation where we can give the teams the opportunity to gain F.A.S.T. points if Saturday is a washout.  We hope the rain date is not needed, but we commend Fremont Speedway for making a special effort to get this race in."

FAST Championship Series Season Kicks Off This Weekend
MAUMEE, OH (4-17-10) by Bryan Autullo, FAST Public Relations

With only two races in the books so far this season due to Mother Nature keeping temperatures down near freezing, the Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series will unleash the fury on Friday April 23rd at Attica Raceway Park for the first points event of the 2010 season.  The intensity continues on Saturday April 24th for what will now be the Fremont Speedway season opener.  Tim Shaffer won the first Northern Ohio event this season at Attica while last year's FAST Series runner up, Byron Reed, dominated the invading All Star Circuit of Champions during the Coors Light Attica Spring Nationals.  Reed has come out of the gates strong in 2010 with his eyes on the Kistler Cup Trophy.  Reed battled with Craig Mintz throughout the second half of the 2009 season for the inaugural FAST Series title, but came up just 51 points shy as he capped off the season with a win at Fremont Speedway.

The 2010 season looks as if it will be as strong and as exciting as 2009 proved to be.  With Reed, Mintz, Mike Linder, Brock Mayes, Chris Andrews, Scott Euler, Todd Heller, Brandon Martin, David Harrison, Brian Smith, Phil Gressman, Lee Jacobs, Jody Keegan, and Mark Keegan duking it out for the title there is no shortage of talent in FAST competition.  Throw in the young guns looking to make their mark such as Bryan Sebetto, Travis Philo, Duane Zablocki, Kevin Lee, Shawn Valenti, and Cody White it is possible that a new star will shine as the season wears on.  Other drivers who may be attending the majority of FAST Championship events include Randy Hannagan, Rob Chaney, John Ivy, Bruce Robenalt, Bryan Lay, Cole Duncan, Aaron Middaugh, and Caleb Helms.  Fans will get their money's worth on Friday and Saturday nights as the battle for the Kistler Cup rages on throughout the summer.

"I think we have one of the most talented groups of drivers in the country," said series co-founder Chris Kettman.  "As a fan, I enjoy coming to Attica and Fremont to see these guys as much as I enjoy going to Eldora for an Outlaws show or Williams Grove to see the PA Posse.  The racing is always exceptional and the extra intensity of the FAST points chase just adds to the mix."

The 2009 season saw Craig Mintz pocket the winner's share of more than $60,000 in cash and prizes with cash and contingency awards going to the Top 10 drivers.  Drivers who finished 11th through 20th also received contingency awards and were eligible for random drawings for other door prizes at the banquet.  "We are putting up the same money again this year with $10,000 to win," said series co-founder Scott Porter.  "The money we pay out in addition to what both track point funds pay adds up to one of the richest payouts in the country for a weekly 410 sprint car racing program."

The FAST Series also handed out several weekly certificates in 2009 to the Top 5 finishers, the B-main winner, the Hard Charger, the Tough Luck award and more.  In 2010, even more sponsors have provided certificates to hand out on a weekly basis and those will be announced at a later date.  "The amount of response we got during the off-season has been incredible," Said Kettman.  "I think in 2009 we showed what we are all about.  In 2010 we don't have to prove ourselves.  We just have to continue to build on what we started last year.  Lots of companies saw the value of what we are doing and wanted to get involved.  We want to thank all of them for participating."

Visit www.fastondirt.com to find out more about the F.A.S.T. Championship Series, the drivers, the rules, the schedule, the sponsors, and more.
