MAUMEE, OH (1-5-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations The doors will open to the public at 1 p.m. and general admission is just $5.00 at the door. Children 12 & under will be admitted free with a paid adult. Admission includes a sample cup and spoon to taste each team’s chili creation. Be sure to visit your favorite team’s booth often and vote for them as "The People's Choice" award. "The Inaugural Racer's Chili Challenge was a big success,” says F.A.S.T. co-founder Bryan Autullo. "There were about 22 entries last year in 4 different categories and a lot of really great chili was consumed by the large crowd that showed up on a cold and snowy winter day." Last winter's celebrity judges (Brad Doty, Kenny Jacobs, Jim Linder, and Darl Harrison) voted the WFIN radio "Racing World" team as the "Grand Champion" and fans came from as far away as Western Pennsylvania to sample the chili, mingle with the Fremont & Attica drivers and the local racing legends throughout the afternoon. "We're sticking to pretty much the same formula for 2010," Autullo added. "We're going to do a few things differently, but for the most part it will be the same recipe for a good time that we cooked up in 2009. We’ll have celebrity judges, games for the kids, a driver autograph session, and a couple of show cars this February." Celebrity judges will once again determine the best chili in each of the three divisions (Sprint Cars, Late Models/ Dirt Trucks & Fans/Media) and the winning team will receive a chili pot trophy and prize packs from Fremont Speedway, Attica Raceway Park, the F.A.S.T Series, and Hoserville Ohio. “The People's Choice" chili will be voted on by the general public and the winner will receive the Grand Champion chili pot trophy and their choice of either a $100 gift certificate to Kistler Racing Products or $100 cash.Scott Porter, co-founder of the F.A.S.T. organization commented, "We're also bringing back the KS Sales & Service Hot Head Jalapeño Eating Contest and thanks to Kevin Shammo we're doubling the prize money to $100 for the winner. This event was the highlight last year as Jason Tomczyk consumed 15 peppers in five minutes, while the event left several other contestants in tears." Another event returning is the Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament for the kids (17 & under) presented by Computer Man, Inc. of Fremont, Ohio. New in 2010 will be a beanbag tournament presented by Hoserville Ohio - a charity organization that helps injured drivers with their medical expenses. Registration for the tournaments will take place the day of the event. Updates about the 2nd Annual Racer’s Chili Challenge will be posted at www.fastondirt.com and can be heard on “The Last Lap FASTcast” on Wednesday nights leading up to the event at www.lastlaplive.com or www.dirtvision.com.
