![]() ![]() MAUMEE, OH (2-5-10) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Public Relations With the 2010 season right around the corner in Northern Ohio, the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) Championship Series is hard at work organizing their sophomore campaign. Much like in 2009, a 22-race schedule is planned for this year with 11 events at both Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway. The schedule's concept features "F.A.S.T. Weekends" where events are ran back-to-back at the two tracks in a Friday/Saturday package with the intent to attract more fans and teams to the 410 sprint car racing hotbed for two consecutive nights of points racing. The only exceptions are the two stand alone season championship nights sponsored by Kistler Racing Products at the two tracks end of the season. The race for the 2010 F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup begins the weekend of April 23rd and 24th at Attica and Fremont and their is no telling who you might find pulling into the pits. The F.A.S.T. Championship Series is hard at work putting together enough cash and contingency prizes to entice 410 sprint car teams to Northern Ohio to compete at these two great venues throughout the season and the intent to reward the teams at the banquet. "We have secured enough sponsors and advertisers to once again pay out $10,000 to the series championship winner and of course the Kistler Cup trophy," said series co-founder Scott Porter. "I think teams have noticed the numbers that Fremont, Attica & F.A.S.T. have put together on paper and realize that our independent point fund, combined with the two track point funds, creates the third richest point fund payout in the country for a weekly sprint car racing program, behind only iconic venues like Williams Grove and Knoxville." In 2009, the F.A.S.T. Series paid out $30,000 in cash to the Top-10 teams and added another $30,000 in contingency awarded to the Top-20 teams. Plans for 2010 are very much in line with what the series was able to do in its inaugural season. Another thing that is attracting teams to Northern Ohio is the weekly purse at these two venues. Attica pays $2,200 to win and Fremont pays $2,500 to win with each track paying well all the way back through the field and that keeps teams coming back weekly and many outsiders trying to swoop in for a quick day. "We see some of the best local talent in the country every weekend at Attica & Fremont," said series co-founder Chris Kettman. "With guys like Mark Keegan, Byron Reed, Brock Mayes, Craig Mintz, Brandon Martin, Chris Andrews, Mike Linder, and Phil Gressman competing for the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title you won't find a more affordable or better way to spend your summer nights in 2010." 2009 F.A.S.T. Champion Craig Mintz narrowly edged out Byron Reed for the 2009 crown making for a great battle all season long, which created a new enthusiasm that swept through the stands and pit area. "To make things even more interesting, we also expect to see guys like Randy Hannagan, Lee Jacobs, Rob Chaney, and Kody Kinser to make appearance throughout the 22-events planned this season," Kettman added. The season in Northern Ohio officially starts with opening night at Attica Raceway Park on Friday March 26th featuring 410 sprint cars, UMP DIRTcar Late Models and 305 sprint cars. Just a few short weeks later Fremont Speedway opens the gates on their 59th year of racing on Saturday April 17th with 410 sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and dirt trucks. 2010 KISTLER RACING PRODUCTS FREMONT/ ATTICA SPRINT TITLE The Race For The F.A.S.T.
